Graphic designer to UI UX designer: how to switch
If you already design posters, logos, or social media posts, you are closer to UI UX than you think. Your eye for type, colour, and spacing carries straight over. What you add is the thinking behind a product: who uses it, what they are trying to do, and whether your design helps them do it.

Searching for a graphic design course in Tirupur? We should be upfront: Aarasoft Academy does not teach graphic design. We teach UI UX design only. If you already know graphic design and want to move into apps and websites, this page is for you. Still deciding between the two fields? Read UI UX vs graphic design: which career is better first.
What you keep, add, and let go
01 Keep
Typography, colour, alignment, visual balance, and the habit of taking feedback from clients. These make your interfaces look finished from day one.
02 Add
User research, user flows, wireframes, interaction design, accessibility, and usability testing. This is the UX half, and it is where most of your learning time goes.
03 Let go
The idea that the design is done once it looks right. In UI UX it is done when people can use it, and it keeps changing after launch.

A six-step switch plan
Learn what UX actually means
Read real UI UX job posts and notice how often they ask for research, flows, and testing, not just good-looking screens.
Move your daily tool to Figma
Rebuild two or three screens from apps you use. Learn frames, auto layout, and components, because these replace much of what you did with artboards.
Practise talking to users
Pick a small problem, such as ordering from a local shop, and interview three to five people about it. Write down where they struggle.
Design the flow before the visuals
Sketch the steps a person takes, then wireframe in grey. Hold back on colour until the flow works.
Prototype and test
Link your screens into a clickable prototype, watch people use it, and fix what confuses them.
Write it up as a case study
Show the problem, the research, the flow, the test, and what you changed. This becomes the centre of your new portfolio.
Your portfolio has to change too
A graphic portfolio shows
The final poster, the logo on a mockup, the packaging shot. Viewers judge the visual result.
A UI UX portfolio shows
Two or three case studies. Each explains the problem, who you spoke to, the flow you chose and why, what testing revealed, and what you changed. Keep one or two visual pieces to show your eye, but let the case studies lead.
I'm Pragti, a Fashion Design graduate and currently a Graphic Designer. I was always interested in UI/UX, but I couldn't find the right platform to learn it from scratch until I joined Aarasoft Academy.

Questions graphic designers ask us
Can a graphic designer become a UI UX designer?
Yes, and it is one of the more natural switches. Your eye for type, colour, spacing, and layout carries over to the UI side. What you add is the UX side: user research, information architecture, user flows, prototyping, and usability testing.
Is there a graphic design course at Aarasoft in Tirupur?
No. Aarasoft Academy teaches UI UX design only. If you already do graphic design and want to move into apps and websites, the 8-week UX/UI Design Masterclass is the course for that, online or at our Tirupur campus on P.N. Road.
Can I use my graphic design work in a UI UX portfolio?
Keep one or two strong pieces to show your visual skill, but a UI UX portfolio is mostly case studies. Each one should show the problem, who you spoke to, the flow you designed, what you tested, and what changed. A poster or logo cannot show that on its own.
Do I need to learn coding to switch from graphic design to UI UX?
No. UI UX designers do not need to write code. It helps to understand how screens are built so your designs are practical to hand over to developers, and the masterclass covers handoff in its final module.
Can I learn UI UX while working as a graphic designer?
Yes. Many people learn alongside a job. Call us to ask about current batch timings for online and Tirupur classes, and plan steady weekly practice hours you can keep.
What are the fees for the UI UX course?
Please enquire for details. Call or WhatsApp +91 93422 42792 and we will explain the course, batch options, and fees.
